Bauer Buckerfillers...

We have a "getting along" theme at Bauer and that is, Have you filled a bucket today? It's a book written by Carol McCloud and it is about being nice to others. a.k.a. filling their buckets. When you are nice to other people it doesnt just fill their buckets but it always fills your bucket too. We tell the kids we want their buckets to be overflowing. And if you are not nice to someone you are a bucket dipper and you dont just hurt their fillings and dip from their bucket, but you always dip from your own. Well, every other month or so we do school wide bucker filler activities. For example in December we made cards and delivered them to people in the nursing homes. In Jan/Feb. we collected supplies to send down to the people in Haiti. Which brings me to the reason of my post... Last week Friday we had an assembly in the gym. Each class brought down their Haiti buckets and, WOW, did we ever collect a lot of things. I think the kids were even amazed at their work! Because of the great job the students have been doing in "filling buckets," the staff decided to fill the students buckets in a little different way (besides just kind wors, etc.) That morning the entire staff wore a bucketfiller t-shirt to school but litle did the kids know, the entire school got a Bauer Buckerfiller T-Shirt too. One student from each class was called to the office to get a bag of shirts. Then everyone put on their shirts right before they came to the assembly. It looked awesome to have EVERYONE wearing the same shirt. The kids were so excited. They screamed and screamed... and by "screamed" I mean it. I could barely hear myself think when we left the gym. It doesnt take make to get 300+ kids excited :)
